With PocketGrib you can download, view and analyse global weather data while on the go.
Wind, precipitation, pressure, temperature, wave and other data extracted from GRIB files are displayed through our powerful GRIB viewer interface.
Perfect for sailors (both sailing and in the pub), windsurfers, storm chasers, outdoor enthusiasts, amateur and professional meteorologists.

PocketGrib downloads and displays the following weather types:
- Wind speed and direction (10 m above ground/sea)
- Precipitation (rain, snow etc)
- Pressure
- Air temperature
- Waves (including Mediterranean and Black Sea)

- CAPE (Convective Atmospheric Potential Energy)
- Current (Atlantic only)
- 500mb Height
Direct download of GRIB data from NOAAs GFS (Global Forecast System) model
- Forecasts up to 8 days
- Data steps: 3hr, 6hr, 12hr
- Worldwide coverage
- Resolution: 0.25°, 0.5°, 1°, 2°
- Data updated 4 times a day (every 6 hours)
Also support for COAMPS (0.2° resolution), WW3, NOGAPS, RTOFS (Currents) and FNMOC WW3 (Mediterranean wave) models.
GRIB forecasts are published without human intervention or review. As such, the end user requires some knowledge and awareness. Most GRIB models do NOT accurately forecast hurricanes and tropical cyclones so their use should be combined with specific hurricane and tropical cyclone forecasts.

Good and efficient UI. Good control over the data and models downloaded. A desktop app would be a great addition !
nice user interface. easy and smooth to use. not as comprehensive as weathertrack, but at a third of the price an excellent deal. also great is that loaded grib files can be shared via itunes with mac/pc programs, thus offering a fine way to select and download grib data.
This app is a nice tool to get the weather forecast on your Ipad

The developer has always been very responsive, and the app has helped better target possible severe storms for me a lot. Highly recommend this app if you want a detailed idea of what the weather might be up to!
What an awesome app for marine weather; air pressure and wind direction. The files are small and quick to download. Is there some way you folks can link this excellent app through shortwave radio for offshore sailors? Highly recomended.
Some bad moments
This is, without a doubt, one of the the most useful apps available! I wouldnt start a race, cruise, or offshore passage without it!
From its initial guise this app has developed well. I use it constantly whether on land or at sea. It is a quick view into trends and indications. Graphics are clear. Regional downloads quick simple and efficient. The add on also help to give information to users. I have been very pleased with this app from the start and it continues to develop well.
This app really gives me the details I am looking for when the forecast is vague... Especially where and when the weather will be worst or best... I like the wind forecast best to pick my sailing times and direction... Fair winds and a following breeze.
I have four other wind prediction apps that i use mostly for BASE and power kiting. I never trust one but average out between all of them to make an educated guess. This app is the most accurate on average and is the easiest and most user friendly. If you get one wind app this is the only one to consider.

Simple and fantastic. Mark an area on a chart. Download. Couldnt be easier. Standard GRIB format. Move cursor to a spot and gives more detailed data. Data refresh fast.
